Copyright law for Music industry now

The Indian entertainment industry has hailed as a historic decision the parliamentary approval accorded to the Copyright Act (Amendment) Bill, 2012, which strengthens the royalty claims of musicians, lyricists and those in similar fields. But at the same time, musicians feel the system to collect and monetize royalties should be put in place soon.

While Shridhar Subramaniam, of Sony Music India, opined that the policy makers should have also given importance to the piracy issue, musician Vishal Dadlani called for laying down a proper system to make the law effective.

Surpassing the Oscar winning French film THE ARTIST and Luhrmann's musical Moulin Rouge, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's adaptation of the 1917 Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel DEVDAS stood on the number 8 slot on the coveted Times Magazines' 10 Greatest Movies of the Millennium list.

Says an excited Sanjay Leela Bhansali, ''The news couldn't have come at a better time, DEVDAS completes 10 momentous years...It's a very proud and happy moment for me. When DEVDAS released, it was slammed by Indian critics for being over-the-top and melodramatic. But Corliss had loved the film and supported it for the same qualities. Today, when he selects DEVDAS alongside THE ARTISTE and AVATAR as one of his 10 favorite films of the millennium, I feel that my struggle was worth it.''

If that wasn't all, the film is now going to release in a 3D version to commemorate its 10 glorious years of cinema.

Storyline: A journalist busts a business scam. That company’s young tycoon tricks her into an affair for revenge. After she is forced into an abortion (as the buzz goes), her desensitised, toughened self returns to sleep her way through the corporate world to get back at him.  His last film called Buddha In A Traffic Jam is yet to release. Goal received a lukewarm response at the box-office, but apparently its sequel has been on the cards for a while. 

Music: Harshit Saxena. He makes his debut as a music composer with this film. Though this film is produced by a Bhatt (Vikram Bhatt), the reviews haven’t had very good things to say.
